2010 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi Vineyard,
Sta. Rita Hills

Aromatics of darker fruits in the nose with hints of lavender and sage. Flavors are full bodied and savory. First flavor impressions are of blackberry, tea leaf and cedar. The mouth feel is ripe and plush with suggestions of minerality. Tannins are soft and add a layer to the sensation of texture, finishing earthy, with chewy hints of toast and cocoa.

2009 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi Vineyard,
Sta. Rita Hills

The wine is savory and complex with aromas of raspberry, smoked cranberry and sage. A coating mouth feel envelopes and fills the mouth as the flavor of the first sip reaches the taste buds. The sensation of supple texture is followed by flavors of concentrated red cherries, wild berries and red plums that are zesty, showing intensity but not weightiness. Ripe and silky, with persistent flavors.

2010 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard,
Santa Barbara County, 375ml

Visually dark, complex and brooding. First impressions in the nose are of red fruit, cinnamon and wild sage. In tasting, the flavors of red cherry, currant, blackberry and tea leaf unite in a mouth feel that shows mineral and soft tannin. The fruit character is fresh, bright and juicy. The flavors are seamless with red and dark fruit, spice; combining with tannin and mineral character to create a persistent finish. In all its opulent fruit-forward character, flavor and richness, this is a bottle that is easy to open and drink by itself. Nevertheless, the structure behind this wine will make you want to pop and pour it with a nice steak, cut of lamb and even salmon.

Cargasacchi Pinot Noir SBC label

2009 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard,
Santa Barbara County, 375ml

This is a complex and brooding wine with enough backing fruit to let you know where it came from. The nose shows the classic tea leaf and dark fruit character that has come to be part of the typical expression from this vineyard. The aromas are pungent and attractive, with interlaced hints of cedar and thyme. The flavors of this wine are a seamless blend of raspberry and blackberry with enough spicy character to lengthen the and add nuance to the fruit. The wine’s concentration is evident on the palate.

2008 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi Vineyard,
Sta. Rita Hills

Dark, rich and full bodied this wine is perhaps the most aromatic Pinot Noir we have produced to date. Ripe berries, baking spice, earth and sage are all present in the nose, along with a plethora of other scents that lead your senses down numerous paths. The dark, saturated hue is suggestive of concentration, with the first sip revealing a luscious, richly textured wine that is balanced with ripe fruit, spice and tannin. The layers of small dark fruit are seamlessly woven with firm, ripe, tannins for a very persistent, mouthwatering finish.

2008 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard,
Santa Barbara County, 375ml

In a vintage characterized by low yields and concentration, this is not your typical fruit bomb. The nose shows tealeaf, dark berry fruit and a little pinot funk. Depending on your mood; the nose can also show a hint of sage or thyme and even violets. The fruit’s character is spicy and juicy with mouth coating black cherry, cola and earthy flavors woven together by a core of minerality that is framed by a chewy texture/mouthfeel.

2009 Invincible Sun Late Harvest Pinot Grigio

The Pinot Grigio grapes for the Invincible Sun are allowed to ripen to the maximum attainable sweetness that the vine is able to produce. After an additional 2-3 weeks of hang time, the dehydrating fruit is harvested at an extremely ripe state without botrytis and without any mold. Only the perfect and unblemished fruit is picked. It is picked cold, and then pressed and fermented in neutral barrels. This is a very bright, clean and aromatic expression of the Pinot Grigio grape varietal, not cloyingly sweet in the mouth, but rather possesses a firm core of acidity that frames the ripe, appealing flavors. Floral and fruit notes on the nose with bright lifting aromatics of white peaches, ginger, lavender and pie crust. Lighter bodied and not cloying, this is a refreshing late harvest wine with concentrated flavors that include nectarine, pear, mango and lime. The 2009 Invincible Sun is the ripest produced to date and along with white fruit and citrus there are hints of baking spice, peach pie and crème brulee.

2007 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard,

Brooding but approachable with spicy cherry, violets and loamy earth on the nose. In the mouth the wine has a bright and supple texture that is followed by flavors of crushed raspberry and darker fruits, with smoky blackberry flavors, mineral and subtle hints of mocha toastiness. Soft, fine-grained tannins lead to a lengthy, clean finish.

2006 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi Vineyard,

The 2006 Cargasacchi Pinot Noir is well balanced with a nose that shows hints of earth, sage and violets with dominant cherry and black currant/cassis. The tending towards darker fruit aromatics lead to and compliment the velvety and rich mid-palate texture. Red and dark fruits, including blackberry and raspberry puree are framed in the mouth by crisp refreshing acidity before melting into silky but firm tannins.

2006 Pinot Noir, Cargasacchi-Jalama Vineyard,

A hint of lavender are followed by dominant currant and red cherry scents in the nose that lead to red cherry and raspberry flavors in the well textured mouth. Mineral and clean leathery tannins accent the lingering red fruit flavors. This is an easy to drink wine that can be enjoyed by itself or with food.

2006 Cargasacchi Invincible Sun
Late Harvest Pinot Grigio

The 2006 Invincible Sun reveals Pinot Grigio picked from the vine at an extremely ripe state without botrytis, pressed and fermented in neutral barrels. It is a very bright, clean and aromatic expression of the varietal with intense white peaches, mango and floral elements on the nose. It is not cloyingly sweet in the mouth but rather shows a firm core of acidity that frame fresh apricot, pineapple, and ripe apple flavors. The finish is long, lingering and clean with citrus and tropical fruits.

2005 Cargasacchi Pinot Noir,

Floral and blackberry scents with cedar and spice. On the palate, the wine is structured with a velvety mouthfeel that combines lavender and earth with both dark and red fruits, including blackberry, cherry and red raspberry. The elegant fruit finishes with well-centred soft tannin and hints of pepper and toast.

2005 Cargasacchi Pinot Noir,

The seductive spice and earth on the nose entices and hints at the mouthful of bright red fruit to come. On the palate, the wine shows softer structure and beautiful fruit highlighted by red berry, wild cherry and red currant. This wine shows red fruit character throughout with bright acidity, soft tannins and minerality to complement food.

Balanced, medium bodied, savory Pinot Noir with edged red fruits and acidity in spades to pair perfectly with rich cuts of beef, lamb or sashimi. Lively and bright in the mouth, the tangy red currant and vivid cherry lead to a prolonged finish, fine tannins and hints of leather and cedar.
